WHY WOMEN EMPOWERMENT?

Over the past decade, gender equality has emerged as not just a moral imperative, but a driving force behind the health, prosperity, and progress of nations. At the heart of the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals lies a powerful commitment: to promote gender equality and empower women around the globe.
Empowering women means ensuring they have equal rights, access to opportunities, and the freedom to make their own choices. It’s about enabling women to lead, to thrive, and to shape their own futures.
When women are empowered, entire communities flourish. They become catalysts for economic growth, pillars of social development, and champions of sustainability. From boardrooms to classrooms, from healthcare to government, empowered women are making their mark—driving innovation, fostering inclusive decision-making, and inspiring change.
By investing in women, we build stronger, more balanced societies—where every voice is valued, every talent is nurtured, and the full potential of humanity is realized. Gender equality isn’t just a goal—it’s the foundation for a better, fairer, and more harmonious world for everyone.

What we do?

Launched in 2006, Suri Dangalpara Janakalyan Sangha’s Nayi Disha programme is a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering marginalized and socially-excluded women across India. Rooted in the principles of dignity, equity, and sustainability, Nayi Disha delivers targeted interventions in nutrition, healthcare, and livelihood development, ensuring holistic support for women at the grassroots level.

The programme goes beyond traditional aid—it builds capacity and fosters self-reliance through innovative, community-driven practices. Women are equipped not only to access essential healthcare but also to become active agents of change within their communities. Through comprehensive training and awareness-building, Nayi Disha enables women to gain critical life skills, vocational abilities, and financial independence.

Recognizing that true gender equality requires collective effort, Nayi Disha also engages men and boys as allies in the empowerment process, promoting shared responsibility and breaking down deep-rooted social barriers. By nurturing informed, resilient, and economically empowered women, Nayi Disha is laying the foundation for a more inclusive, equitable, and progressive society.

Entrepreneurship Development

As part of its mission to uplift underprivileged communities, Suri Dangalpara Janakalyan Sangha’s Nayi disha programme provides dynamic entrepreneurship and skill development training to women from urban slums and rural areas—many of whom are already running small-scale businesses with limited resources. This initiative opens doors to economic empowerment, financial independence, and leadership, helping women transform their aspirations into tangible success stories. By nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among women, Nayi disha breaks down traditional gender barriers, challenges societal norms, and drives progress toward true gender equality. The programme offers comprehensive support at every step of the journey—through hands-on training, expert mentorship, and capacity-building workshops designed to equip women with the practical knowledge and confidence to run and grow sustainable businesses. From understanding the fundamentals of business and financial management to mastering marketing strategies and effective communication, women are guided by a blend of in-house trainers and seasoned industry professionals. They are introduced to real-world tools and insights to scale their ventures, increase profitability, and step into their roles as independent, successful entrepreneurs. In addition, Nayi disha facilitates valuable networking opportunities—connecting women with fellow entrepreneurs, industry mentors, and potential investors—creating a thriving ecosystem that celebrates women-led innovation and economic inclusion. Through entrepreneurship, these women are not only changing their own lives, but also becoming powerful catalysts of change in their families and communities.
